Sugar Cane Cutter cleaner and packer

A&D Skopp is a family operated sugar cane business located in the Northern Gold Coast area of Queensland. We are offering three employees the opportunity to join our team and work with Australia’s only sugar cane business specialising in the production of fresh sugar cane sticks for the juicing market. We are looking for reliable, hardworking and physically fit farm workers who are keen to learn, develop their skills and become part of our team.

The position involves a combination of field work, wash room duties and packing shed work associated with the cutting, cleaning and preparation of fresh sugar cane for the juicing market.

Duties and Responsibilities

Field Work:

• Cutting and handling sugar cane by hand using a cane knife
• Working towards a production target of approximately 400 kg per hour while maintaining quality and safe work practices.
• Cutting cane correctly at the last noggel.
• Removing the sharp section of bent cane.
• Inspecting cane and removing damaged, rotten or unsuitable sticks.
• Keeping cane clean and minimising dirt and contamination.
• Laying cane into neat, uniform piles ready for collection by the tractor's mechanical cane grab.
