Does my postcode count?

Type the postcode of the workplace (the farm, not the hostel).

General info from the Home Affairs regional list, last checked September 2026. Lists change, and the type of work matters too, so check the official list before you take the job. Official specified work page

How entries are checked

  • Checked before it goes in. Directory entries are checked on the web first: the employer's own website, industry association directories, Workforce Australia Harvest Trail listings and job ads. The latest round was checked on 28 Sept 2026. 9 listings were added from job ads and say so on the page until the business confirms them. 8 were added by backpackers.
  • Hiring now means hiring now. A listing only shows as hiring when it has a live job on Matey, the employer or an official seasonal guide says so, or a job feed showed it advertising in the last 30 days. We never guess from the season.
  • The postcode check is built in. Every listing with a postcode is checked against the Home Affairs regional list (and the northern and remote tourism and hospitality list for roadhouses and pubs), last checked 25 Sept 2026. The kind of work matters too, so confirm with the employer and keep every payslip. Official specified work page
  • Backpackers keep it honest. People who worked there rate the pay, hours, accommodation and whether they felt safe, and anyone can suggest a fix on a listing.

Why not a spreadsheet or a paid list?

Free spreadsheets

Long lists passed around the groups. Handy, but nobody says when a row was last checked, who is hiring, or whether the postcode counts.

Paid contact lists

People sell farm contacts for your 88 days. You pay before you know if the numbers work or anyone is hiring.

Matey

Free. Checked before it goes in, the postcode check on every listing, live jobs linked, and reviews from backpackers who worked there.

Filter it your way in the app

Filter by kind of work, state, season and who is hiring, save employers, track your 88 days. Free for backpackers.
